GENERAL SUMMARY:

Under the direction of the Director of Development, develop and implement successful strategies for managing the individual membership program and the annual fund for all members giving less than $1,000.

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:

Manages the individual membership program except for the Committee of 100.

Develops membership metrics that will provide the Director, Director of Development, and Deputy Director for Finance and Operations with monthly, quarterly, and yearly trends, revenues, and membership numbers for all membership levels including the Committee of 100. 

Refines the current membership acquisition program. Works closely with the Senior Major Gifts Officer and the Director of Development to transition general members to the Committee of 100 and to the major gift portfolio.

Directs the Contemporaries Program including event planning, volunteer recruitment, and oversight of staff and volunteers.

Develops strategies and appropriate initiatives to upgrade current members who have been consistent donors.

Manages the renewal program. Through electronic screening identifies members capable of upgrading their support and develops a plan to accomplish this.

Manages the Annual Fund (the additional gift program) for all members giving less than $1,000.

Working with the Senior Major Gifts and Planned Giving Officer, develops a Bequest Program for general membership.

Manages the electronic screening process.

Performs special projects and other related duties as required, directed, or as the situation dictates.

Complies with all Portland Museum of Art safety rules and procedures.

Regular attendance at the workplace is required.

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITY:

None.

EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE:

Bachelor’s Degree in a related field with three to five years of increasingly responsible and successful fundraising experience, preferably in membership.

QUALIFICATIONS:

Excellent planning and organizational skills.

Creativity, metrics, planning, and ability to think strategically.

Strong interpersonal and communication skills.

Ability to work cooperatively and productively with coworkers and those outside the organization.

Ability to effectively supervise and direct staff and volunteers.

Ability to effectively operate computers and assigned software, including Microsoft Office and Raiser’s Edge.

Ability to pass a criminal background check.

WORKING CONDITIONS & PHYSICAL DEMANDS:

The majority of work is performed in a normal office environment not subject to extremes of noise, temperature, odor, etc. Operates computer, printer, photocopier, typewriter, postage machine, and other office equipment. Work involves extended sitting, computer use, and small muscle tasks.
