Photo Policy
To ensure the safety of the collection and enjoyment of our visitors, the Portland Museum of Art permits only personal, non-commercial photography without flash or tripod in the permanent collections, with the following restrictions:
- No photography in special exhibition galleries or in loan exhibitions
- No photography of works with slashed camera icon on the label
- No commerical photography
- No video filming
Due to copyright law, the Portland Museum of Art does not allow commercial photography or video filming of any artwork, person, or building contents residing within or on the property. This includes any and all electronic devices capable of recording video media. Any unauthorized video or photography taken on the property of the Portland Museum of Art is subject to confiscation.
Photographic and digital images of Portland Museum of Art objects are available through our Rights and Reproductions department. Low-resolution images may be available for educational use, but may not be reproduced. High-resolution digital files may be purchased for reproduction purposes. More information about image services.
Small camera bags may be carried throughout the building. Please use the self-check lockers located in the coat room next to the Admissions Desk to check oversize camera bags.
